2026 Applause Award Winners,
Abby Harrell & Josef Wright!
DA Theatre had an extraordinary night at the 12th Annual Applause Awards on May 30 at Orlando's Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Leading the celebration, Abby Harrell and Josef Wright were named the Female and Male Outstanding Lead Performers for their roles in On the Town and will advance to represent the Applause Awards at the prestigious Jimmy Awards in New York City. Junior Alayna Martus earned First Runner-Up honors for the second consecutive year and received BFA pre-screen passes from UF, UCF, and FSU.
The evening also included scholarship awards for five graduating seniors, a special appearance by DA Theatre alumnus and 2024 Jimmy nominee George Eastman as co-host, and an Outstanding Musical award for On the Town, allowing the cast one final opportunity to take the stage. It was a remarkable celebration of the talent, hard work, and achievements of DA Theatre students and alumni.
