DA MT Student Performs at Carnegie Hall
In January, Jessie-Ellen Doherty, a junior Musical Theatre major was selected for the highly prestigious, international 2022 High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. Jessie performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City as an Alto with the Honors Treble Choir. Participation in one of the five Honors Ensembles is limited to the highest-rated high school performers from around the world.
Jessie auditioned for the Honors Performance Series earlier this year, along with thousands of other young performers, and was accepted after a review by the Honors Selection Board. Acceptance to the elite group of international applicants is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in her application and audition recording.
Jessie has studied music for six years, firstly at LaVilla School of the Arts where she majored in Voice, before specializing in Musical Theatre at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. Jessie has performed in numerous venues and shows around the world, including in Ireland and the Middle East where she has previously lived.
In response to her selection as a Finalist, Jessie said, “I am still in shock! I can’t believe that I will be singing on the same stage that so many of my heroes have performed – it’s a complete dream come true!”
The Honors Performance Series was created to showcase accomplished individual high school performers on an international level by allowing them to study under master conductors and perform in the celebrated venue, Carnegie Hall.
