2021 District Thespians
Congratulations to all of our Thespian Participants!
IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT THIS WEEKEND
As a reminder, District Thespians will take place Saturday, November 23, 2019. The festival will be held at Mandarin High School, but ALL DOUGLAS ANDERSON STUDENTS MUST RIDE THE BUS!
Students should be at DASOTA NO LATER THAN 7:15 am. Please be prompt.
Reminder: If a student misses the bus they WILL not be able to perform. They may not meet us at Mandarin.
Mr. Kemper has talked to most groups about costumes/what to wear. If there is doubt, you can come to him. When in doubt, audition wear/attire is the way to go. All clothing must be ironed/pressed and look presentable. Hair and makeup needs to be done BEFORE getting on the bus, even if your event is later in the day. When we step on to campus, we represent DA and our department.
Before each student leaves their house for DA, please double, triple check that they have EVERYTHING: all costume pieces, rep books, scene props, prompt/rehearsal/director's books, shoes, everything! You will forget something if you're not diligent about this! Please make a list and triple check. Thanks!
Lunch will be provided by various food trucks that will be on location at your expense. Please plan/budget accordingly. With the exception of students with dietary restrictions, participants are expected to patronize the food trucks on location. Boosters have been advised that we may NOT provide lunch.
Dinner will be pre-ordered pizzas that Boosters will cover. Again, students with food sensitivities will need to plan accordingly.
Boosters have been given permission to provide water and light snacks which we will have at our tent.

RULES/ ETIQUETTE :
• Please, no parents or family members may show up to the Festival unannounced. This is a District Thespian rule, and any rule broken is a reflection of DA and the Theatre Department. All guests have been registered as Chaperones (or daypass holders) five weeks ago. This is not considered a performance, but rather an adjudicated competition.
• No students may record any of their peer's events, except for Critic's Choice Showcase.
• Phones are to be off and out of sight at all times (except to use as a device for music)
If you are one of the parent chaperones, Ms. Harrison has indicated that you are not required to ride the bus unless you wish to do so. If you plan to ride the bus, please arrive between 7-7:15 am to assist staff with the boarding process if needed. Day pass holders (and chaperones) may follow the bus or meet us there.
If you are a chaperone that plans to meet us there, please arrive to Mandarin High School by 7:30 to help us set up an area with our tent.
We are also looking for parents who are attending to volunteer to bring the following:
-Water bottles (6 cases needed)
-Granola bars and light snacks (crackers, chips, cheez-its,etc) We have approx 110 students.
